2022 Scholarship Program Terms & Conditions

  • Applicant must be a SECU member in good standing.
  • Applicant must be attending a 2 or 4-year college, university, trade or technical school for the Fall 2022 semester.
  • SECU employees and their family members are not eligible to apply.
  • Application must be completed by the student seeking scholarship funds. Parents cannot apply on behalf of their children.
  • Applicant should not include any identifying personal information in his/her essay, including name or school. Doing so will result in immediate disqualification of application.
  • All application materials must be received by the SECU MD Foundation no later than 11:59pm on May 8, 2022.
  • Essays will be evaluated by a pre-selected committee and will be graded on content, creativity/writing style, and technical components (i.e., grammar/spelling).
  • Each scholarship recipient will be notified in mid-June 2022 of his/her award by phone and/or e-mail.
  • Scholarship funds cannot be made payable directly to the scholarship recipient.
  • The SECU MD Foundation will make scholarship funds payable to the college, university, trade school, or technical school’s Bursar’s Office where the student is enrolled, on their behalf.
  • Scholarship funds must be applied to the fall 2022 semester, and cannot be used to satisfy outstanding debts.
  • Applicant agrees to have their photo taken upon acceptance of the award.
  • Applicant agrees that by submitting an application to the SECU MD Foundation Scholarship Program, his or her photograph, name, and award amount may be published in future print or electronic material. Upon submission of application, essays become property of the SECU MD Foundation. The Foundation may publish or otherwise use submissions without prior approval and without compensation.
  • A list of award recipients will be published on our here on our website.
  • All tax responsibilities belong to the scholarship recipient, not the SECU MD Foundation.
  • Applicant will provide true and correct information, or risk disqualification. Failure to follow the 2022 Scholarship Program Terms and Conditions will result in immediate disqualification.
